Verona, September 8, 2025 – From October 10 to 12, 2025, in Halls 11 and 12 of Veronafiere, ArtVerona returns with its 20th edition, a milestone celebrating twenty years of growth under the banner of a fruitful dialogue between art, culture, and the local territory.
With 143 exhibitors and thanks to the collaboration with ANGAMC – the National Association of Modern and Contemporary Art Galleries, the fair strengthens its role within the Italian modern and contemporary art system, placing at its core the themes of Conversation and Writing as both a curatorial approach and a guiding thread.
Under the new artistic direction of Laura Lamonea, ArtVerona reaffirms the connection between fair and city, creating links between galleries, artists, collectors, and major institutions such as the Municipality of Verona and Fondazione Cariverona, weaving together historical and cultural heritage with contemporary visions. The fair extends into the city, turning art into an opportunity for encounter and participation.
This year, the fair goes beyond the traditional division between the halls, creating a true dialogue between modern and contemporary art.
Alongside the Main Section and Publishers, four new exhibition sections will debut. This new vision comes to life in Hall 11—traditionally dedicated to 20th-century artists—with two new sections: Pittura ORA, curated by Leonardo Regano, focused on painting and drawing today; and Effetto Sauna, curated by Laura Lamonea, inviting galleries to present established artists alongside those not yet represented on the market. In Hall 12, in addition to the Main Section galleries, two further sections will be hosted: Steps, curated by Giulia Civardi, for young galleries and experimental spaces active for no more than eight years; and Video? Avete detto video?, curated by Elisa Ganivet and Laura Lamonea, a tribute to theorist Philippe Dubois and to the complexity of moving-image language.
International galleries from these sections will present their works in a new format within the cinema hall located at the center of the pavilion.
In today’s context – where borders are increasingly blurred and mobility is key – ArtVerona welcomes visitors to a space designed to highlight expressive forms often marginalized in the fair context, such as video works and video performances, through an agile platform that connects international artistic proposals.
The cinema hall will also host screenings of works from major public and private collections, including Museion Bolzano, CNAP Paris, and MART Trento e Rovereto.
In line with the fair’s mission to support emerging talent, Hall 12 will feature PRIMA, artist studio atelier, a special project entirely dedicated to very young artists still in training. They are selected in collaboration with the Accademia di Belle Arti di Verona and CONTEMPORALIS – Association Amis Art Contemporain France – Italie, which will identify promising students from prestigious French art schools, including the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts and École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
The Publishers section will once again gather specialized art publishers and sector magazines.
The public program during the three days of the fair will include performances, screenings, and talks, creating opportunities to bring together museum and private collections, curators of artist residencies, and leaders of international exchange projects. A mobile radio station, a discussion arena, and a cinema hall will act as platforms for dialogue and participation. Among these is RADIJO MUSIKII, an online radio broadcast live with a mobile station for itinerant interviews, curated by Edizioni Brigantino (Valentina Lucchetti and Canedicoda), which will also present a performance program. Libreria, curated by Frab’s and dedicated to interdisciplinary magazines, will be located in the entrance hall of the fair. Both spaces are designed by the architecture collective Cookies.
The visitor experience will be enhanced by two technical partners: Artemide, with a selection of lighting solutions, and Moroso, with its iconic furnishings.
For its 20th edition, the fair expands its awards program with new prizes dedicated to the special sections, designed to provide concrete resources and growth opportunities for artists and galleries. The Premio Villa Filanda Antonini will support artistic proposals from Effetto Sauna through an artist residency, while the MZ Costruzioni Prize, founded in 2019, will inaugurate this year a new exchange between art and industry by offering a residency program.
Together with the historic acquisition fund A Disposizione – Veronafiere per l’arte and long-established prizes such as the Premio Zenato Academy, Premio Casarini DueTorri Hotel for Painting Under 40, Premio Fondazione The Bank for Contemporary Painting, Premio Massimiliano Galliani for Drawing Under 40, Premio Display, Premio stARTup, and the Sustainable Art Prize, the 2025 edition counts a total of ten awards, once again confirming the fair’s commitment to supporting the contemporary art system.
Alongside the exhibition halls and public program, special projects created in collaboration with public and private institutions across the territory will activate new opportunities for encounters at the fair and dialogues with cultural venues in Verona.
At the fair, visitors will also discover the work of Rachele Maistrello, winner of the second edition of the Tomorrows UniCredit residency and production award, a prestigious prize supported by UniCredit and conceived, organized, and promoted by Urbs Picta, curated by Jessica Bianchera and realized in collaboration with Fondazione Cariverona, Contemporanea – University of Verona, and Veronafiere S.p.A. – ArtVerona.
The rich city program features the reopening of Palazzo Forti with the exhibition The Then About As Until, a project of Video Sound Art Festival, curated by Laura Lamonea; the visual installation Una distanza senza rive by Enrique Ramírez at the former River Customs House, curated by Pascale Cassagnau and Laura Lamonea; the exhibition Wounded Words Wounding Words, curated by Marta Cereda at the Biblioteca Capitolare; Autogeografie: you take the photos, but you are part of the landscape at the Rondella delle Boccare, a project curated by Thomas Ba in collaboration with the UNESCO World Heritage Conservation and Enhancement Office and the City Walls Department, with artists Lorena Bucur and Davide Zulli, and with the participation of students from I.T.C. Marco Polo in Verona; the exhibition Folding, Flexing and Expanding at Palazzo del Capitanio, promoted by Fondazione Cariverona with Urbs Picta and the Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of Verona, curated by Jessica Bianchera and Domenico Quaranta; and the installation Udatinos – Sensitive to Water by Oriana Persico, promoted by Fondazione Cariverona and Urbs Picta in collaboration with the Museum of Contemporary Art and Verona Civic Museums | Natural History Museum.
Curated by Nicola Giuliani, the project It sounds like another word will present a series of sound and performance-based interventions, establishing a dialogue between the city exhibitions and sound as a tool of regeneration, giving voice back to places.
ArtVerona also creates synergies with key Veronafiere brands such as Marmomac and Vinitaly. During the fair, three initiatives will be on view: the exhibition Axis Mundi, featuring sculptures by artist and designer Raffaello Galiotto at the Natural History Museum; sculptures by Mattia Bosco in Piazzetta Navona, in Verona’s historic center, thanks to a collaboration with Atipografia gallery (Arzignano, VI) and Tosco Marmi; and Silos di Levante at the Polo Santa Marta hosting Julia Carrillo Sole Pioggia Vento, Dario Picariello Sotto il silenzio del tempo, and Lu Yidan Spazio parallelo, three showcases presented by Zenato Academy and curated by Luca Panaro.
